This book deals with the translation and dissemination of the ancient Chinese classic Chu Ci (The Songs of the South) in the Western world namely Europe and America. First the overall picture of the canon’s Western transmission is presented focusing on the formal features of the dissemination texts related to translation. Then the three case studies have been conducted investigating the cultural aesthetic and terminological aspects of a few English translations of Chu Ci by Chinese and foreign translators. Finally the problems and solutions with respect to the transmission of the classic have been summarized and worked out exploring the relationships between translation and dissemination the methods for improving the translation quality of ancient classics innovation of publishing distributing and marketing models and so on.
