About The Book

During my doctoral journey my research supervisors Dr. Deepanwita Srivastava (IGNOU Delhi) and Dr. S.K. Mishra (JNU Delhi) not only guided me academically but also encouraged in putting research findings towards community upliftment. They inspired me to develop unique method to teach children from low economic backgrounds who are studying in Hindi-medium schools of Delhi NCR. Josuman French Enrichment Program is French Teaching-Learning method in Hindi medium of instruction to bring cognitive and affective enhancement in children. This method is research – based method which was primarily piloted in single EDMC primary school of East Laxmi Market to study the impact of the French program in the students of grades 4 and 5. The success of it led to the official launch of teaching French program in 19 EDMC primary schools as first-ever pilot project under the supervision of Honorable Additional Commissioner Smt. Alka Sharma and Education Director Dr. Seema Sharma. This book report shares five months impact assessment of the Josuman French Enrichment program from the period of November 2019 till March 2020. As a skill-based program Josuman provided complete pedagogical guidance to the teachers who actively participated in teaching French language to MCPS children. The school heads and class teachers shared happy surprise when they observed their students’ high-interest and enjoyment in learning French. Maximum school heads quoted that their students showed confidence in speaking singing in French in front of the school. The students who could not speak in English were performing in French language. Their students showed regularity in French classes. The findings of the report conclude positive impact of the program and that it should be continued further in maximum Municipal Corporation Primary Schools and other government schools also. The next post COVID phase of JFEP proposals and future suggestions to have collaborations with French and Canadian embassies and universities and laying down plans for basic teacher training aimed at volunteer teachers for motivating and fine-tuning their skills.
