About The Book

The book ‟Response of Phosphorus levels and Bio-organic Sources on Riceˮ was written to describe the role of Phosphorus and Bio-organic Sources viz. PSB BGA and FYM in production of rice. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most important staple food crop for more than half of the world population specially for south-eastern Asia where 90% of the world rice is grown and consumed. The use efficiency of phosphorus is minimum. Slow mobility of applied phosphorus and its marked fixation results in low crop recoveries of the order of 20-25%. Higher phosphorus rates and its repeated application every year results in higher phosphorus build up in soil. BGA liberates plant growth promoting substances auxins (IAA) amino acids and sugar help in solubilization of insoluble phosphorus and making it available to the crop excrete polysaccharide and other complex compounds which bind soil particle thus improving soil aggregation and water holding capacity add organic matter to soil and reduce erosion losses. PSB is a bio-fertilizer has the capacity to solubilize and mineralize the residual or fixed phosphorous increases the availability of phosphorus in the soil.
