Restoration Scotland 1660-1690

The years following the Restoration of the Stuart monarchs to the throne are currently the subject of considerable scholarly enquiry regarding events in England but this is the first modern study of political and religious attitudes in Scotland in the decades after the Restoration of Charles II in 1660. The popular mood in Scotland during that time swung from royalist enthusiasm for the Restoration through to disaffection under James VII and II and political and religious ideas in Scotland reflected this shift.
