Resurrection Part II

Resurrection is a novel by Leo Tolstoy that addresses profound moral and social issues. Part II continues the exploration of the personal transformation of the central character Prince Dmitri Nekhlyudov as he grapples with his past actions and their consequences.At the start of Part II Prince Nekhlyudov having already begun his journey of self-examination in Part I is now focused on seeking redemption. His efforts center on the life of Katerina Maslova a woman he once loved and abandoned. Katerina has suffered a tragic fate falling into a life of sin after being seduced by Nekhlyudov when they were younger. She is now facing a trial for a crime she did not commit and Nekhlyudov feels deep guilt for her circumstances. He decides to use his privilege and resources to help her but his path is fraught with difficulties.
