Revisiting Byron

Revisiting Byron: Tracing a Philosophical Confluence between Byron and Ghazali is an attempt to elevate Byron''s poetic celebration of wine women and victory to a symbolic presentation of some higher thoughts. It would be the greatest blunder if Ghazali''s nobler efforts to attain spiritual satiety get into any vain amalgamation. However this dissertation deciphers how Byron''s ideas of love life and death have mystic associations. Byron might have misunderstood Islamic mysticism as a universal spirit of freethinking but he does not overrule some of its essential traits while synthesizing it through his poetic imagination. Therefore the purpose of this work is to produce a neutral opinion for Byron''s claim he made to his lawyer that he has no pleasure in fashionable dissipation rather he is determined to take a wider field than is customary with travelers inclined to East. This dissertation was originally produced in 2016 to complete Master’s degree program at University of Karachi under the supervision of Dr. Iftikhar Shafi Chairman Department of English University of Karachi.
