RIKT SIMANT is a poetic presentation of an unsuccessful love story of a village girl. It portrays undisclosed love by the girl who waits for the return of the boy after studies from nearby city. The boy unaware of such love gets married with another girl due to insistence of his family. When he returns to the village after marriage and meets the girl he is taken aback learning that the girl has been in love and still awaiting. After heated discussion and resentment the girl adopts the path of single throughout her life. The book narrates various situations of indecisiveness of both boy and girl. The book reflects the rural life where open love is sin and wishes of the family are supreme. The book takes you to the sixties of the 20th century narrating village customs ideology and day to day life.
