<p>In 1943 after three years of warfare King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy hatched a conspiracy to capitulate to the Allies and betray Italy's German allies in a desperate attempt to keep his throne. The king orchestrated a dramatic vote of no confidence on July 25<sup>th</sup> in Mussolini's own Grand Council and shortly after ordered the arrest of Mussolini. Hitler intervened dispatching SS commandos to rescue Mussolini in a daring escapade and spirit him away to the north of the country establishing a new fascist state with Mussolini at the head: the Italian Social Republic.</p><p></p><p><em>Rise and Fight</em> traces the turbulent final chapter of Benito Mussolini's political life through his words from 1943 to 1945 voiced in the midst of a collapsing Fascist order.
