This research is aimed at recognizing evaluating and addressing the contamination problem generated by the presence of mining tailings in the area of Naica Chihuahua; the type of contamination present at the site was identified by consulting different databases finding that the site is impacted by metals such as Pb and metalloids such as As among others. The structure of the human population of the site was reviewed then a risk analysis focused on lead was performed to evaluate the possible effects on susceptible groups finding that at several points the total reference concentration for residential soil (400mg/kg) is exceeded and that using modeling for a medium scenario (826.892 mg/kg) and a drastic scenario (4157.281 mg/kg) regarding the concentrations of the metal in the soil a possible effect can be inferred especially in children by exceeding the risk level of lead in blood.
