<p>An Englishman dies in a car bomb explosion in Holland. A professional<br />assassination with no chance that the killers will be caught. The Dutch<br />investigators cannot fi nd a motive for the killing of Simon Craig and pass the<br />files to the British police.</p> <p>Newly promoted Chief Inspector Randall is given the task of investigating<br />Simon Craig’s background family and friends. He quickly discovers that<br />Craig was a conceited and ruthless womanizer living a multidimensional life<br />and making himself very rich at the expense of his employers.</p> <p><br />Randall deduces that Craig was also blackmailing his bosses. The evidence<br />Craig was threatening them with showed the workings of The Club—an<br />illegal cartel. Craig had sent the proof to his solicitor in Penzance for<br />safekeeping. When Randall visited Susan Robson she claimed it had<br />been destroyed in a fire.</p> <p><br />Randall suspends the investigation just as Robson and a friend decide to<br />publish Craig’s documents and expose widespread corruption in business and<br />an EU department responsible for competition law compliance.<br />Two more people die before Robson and her friend can be stopped. No one<br />in authority wants the story to break.</p>
