ROBUST BIRD-STRIKE MODELING USING LS-DYNA

About The Book

Collisions between a bird and an aircraft also known as a bird-strike event are very common and dangerous. In order to predict the damage of the components of a turbine fan blade in a bird-strike it is necessary to create an appropriate model for the blade and the bird. Several simulations were carried out using the Lagrange equations to simulate this impact. This work presents alternative standard practices for the modeling of bird-strike events using the Arbitrary Lagrange Eulerian (ALE) and Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) methods within the LS-DYNA finite element code. People interested in this new models and the accurate results produced can use this book as reference to research in similar impacts phenomena. In addition those who use the LS-DYNA code can found some usefull examples for fluid to solid impacts.
