Rocking Chair Reflections

<p>I brace myself to cross the bridge</p><p>outreaching from the rocky ridge</p><p>on which I pause as though in plight</p><p>perhaps impaired by fear or flight.</p><p><br></p><p>Should I proceed with strong resolve</p><p>not knowing what that may involve;</p><p>but blessings to all left behind</p><p>and may this way to all be kind?</p><p><br></p><p>But is this structure safe and sound</p><p>to take me on to firmer ground</p><p>or will it sag beneath my weight</p><p>or sway to send me to my fate?</p><p><br></p><p>Robert Scott has previously won many prizes in poem competitions and also written a successful book of poems published in England.
