Role of Nanomedicine in the treatment of Lung Cancer

About The Book

An inventive and ecologically friendly development in nanomedicine is the production of silver nanospheres from the mucilage of flax seeds and their use in the treatment of targeted lung cancer. By using flax seed mucilage as a natural source which has reduced the silver ions into nanoscale silver particles silver nanospheres were effectively created in this work. Significant benefits of this green synthesis technique include low environmental impact biocompatibility and cost-effectiveness. The produced silver nanospheres'' homogeneous size distribution and average diameter of 20-30 nm were validated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-UV-Visspectroscopic characterization. Functionalization of the silver nanospheres improved their stability and biocompatibility both of which are essential for lung cancer treatment. The powerful lung cancer drug mitomycin C was successfully loaded into the nanospheres displaying sustained drug release properties that provide precise and regulated delivery to cancer cells. This strategy may lessen systemic toxicity and increase the efficacy of treatment.
