About The Book

Memoirs of Chopra V.P. is a three-part memoir that encompasses the author’s journey. The first part deals with the Chopra’s origin lineage (gotra) and personal history; his upbringing values education challenges and hurdles. It discusses the preindependence and post-independence problems due to the partition of the country. The extended family and their relationships are also discussed. This section interprets the Chopra surname subtly as Creative Honest Orderly Person’s Relevant Adaptivity/Ability as the introduction. Tributes are paid by the author to all his mentors including E.P.W. da Costa Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao and Ludwig Rudel. The author’s family involves many firsts such as the author being the first International Trade Specialist and taking care of overseas business too. This memoir is one of the many firsts. The second part of the memoir deals with the challenges that got converted into opportunities and substantial business as well. The third part records narratives of friends and relatives of the author to demonstrate what they have gained and lost during the post-independence period. Here the author adds the domesticity of his parents along with the brief on the memoirs. The author does not believe in the adage “Rolling stone gathers no moss” and has changed it to “Rolling stone gathers roses of different hues” for quality hard work. Chopra V.P. is a B.A. (Hons.) and postgraduate in Math with Statistics from Punjab University. He has served various institutions as an economics analyst and as a management executive. He acquired knowledge by reading profusely and traveling widely in India and abroad on various assignments which were actively deployed in his day-to-day work.
