About The Book

Hermann Hesses Rosshalde is a famous story about a man torn between his obligations to his family and his desire for spiritual fulfilment that can only be attained outside of the constraints of conventional society. Wealthy and well-known artist Johann Veraguth is estranged from his wife and feels constrained by his unhappy marriage. Because of his devotion to his little kid and his fear of being lost Veraguth is chained to the confines of his wealthy estate Rosshalde. After being startled by an unexpected catastrophe Veraguth eventually musters the will to leave the isolated sanctuary of Rosshalde and travel to India in order to rediscover himself.
