Founded in 2005 1718 a New Orleans Reading series is a student-run literary society that is jointly run by Tulane University Loyola University of New Orleans and University of New Orleans. 1718 aims to increase networking between students attending Loyola Tulane and the University of New Orleans offer student writers the opportunity to showcase their work help expand students' awareness of the literary culture of New Orleans and bring in talented published writers for a professional monthly reading series. Each month the reading series features one published author as a Featured Reader as well as two or three Student Readers from a combination of Tulane Loyola or UNO. These readings are on the first Tuesday of each month during the academic year at 7pm at the Columns Hotel on St. Charles. The following is a compilation of works read by the student readers during the 2013-2014 academic year.
