Royalty Collection in Pre-Salt Fields under Concession Regime

After the end of Petrobras' monopoly on the exploration of oil deposits and the establishment of the concession regime through Law 9.478 of August 6 1997 the bidding process for exploration and mining blocks generated great possibilities for the development of the country's oil industry. The discovery of pre-salt reserves in the Campos Santos and Espírito Santo basins between 2006 and 2007 boosted the sector's prospects and prompted this paper to develop a quantitative analysis of the collection of royalties from the polygon fields located in the Santos Basin which have the concession regime as their contract model: Lula Iracema Sapinhoá Lapa and Iara.
