The reason is beside others the growing number of old and very old people whoreceive money while a shrinking number of young working people has to pay for them. Thedemografic development will strengthen this trend in the future. Therefor the retirementdecision that marks the beginning of the retirement is one aspect that gains more importance.Because the early retirement supports this trend an so the financial crisis of the retirementsystem government and other interest groups try to influence the retirement decision.This essay shows the different influences on retirement decisions the institutional frame andthe interests of the individual who finally makes the decision. In this way an overview isgiven to better understand the retirement trends of the future.
