<p>Originally published in 1991 the focus of the contributions in this book is the relationships between rurality and small-scale production particularly in Europe. This remains relevant as then as when the book was first published the issues covered had a particular resonance in the shifting terrain of Europe and the political debates surrounding its common future. The contributors explore the diversity and significance of rural small-scale production in different countries and the regional disciplinary theoretical discourses which inform research. </p>
