The book is highly useful for students researchers the common man policymakers and scientists associated with Biodiversity conservation Taxonomy floral exploration and traditional knowledge at the university and college levels. The present era of the materialistic world involves the setting up of a huge number of developmental projects leading to the deterioration of biodiversity erosion of traditional beliefs and primitive conservation practices especially in the Rajouri district of the Peer Panjal range of the Himalayas. In this geographic region the work on the conservation and especially the conservation of biota with the concept of sacred groves were hardly been carried out this has been the first documentation of this type. The work involves the documentation of the floristic diversity of sacred groves the myths traditional beliefs taboos and anthropogenic disturbances associated with the sacred groves of the Rajouri district along with the possible measures of conservation of such ecologically and religiously important sites. The present research work is done to provide a platform for the students and researchers for their upcoming research on the conservation of biodiversity in this region besides providing some important information to the common man so that proper attention is paid to the diversity of the sacred sites. The documentation of traditional knowledge taboos and myths associated with the sacred groves along with the information regarding the deities will help in boosting the traditional beliefs and hence in conservation of biota with the sacred groves.
