<p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Navy veteran Alan Larry McCall (PN-3) served aboard the USS </span><em style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Midway</em><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> in 1965 during its first combat deployment in the South China Sea during the Vietnam War. </span></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Several years ago McCall traveled to Washington DC with a group of fellow Vietnam Veterans to visit the Vietnam Memorial. That trip brought back a lot of memories triggering questions that had gone unanswered for several decades. </span></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>He started researching looking for answers. Now at age 87 he's written this book - the first-ever personal account of the inaugural combat deployment of the USS </span><em style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Midway</em><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>. McCall thoughtfully considers this contentious period in US history and shares what it was like to sail into danger aboard the </span><em style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Midway</em><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)> during the Vietnam War. Also included is a tribute to the servicemen whose lives were lost during that deployment.</span></p>
