They are produced in the round (that is without seams) from homespun wool that is not dyed showing only natural colors such as white brown and grey and are naturally water- and stain-resistant. </span></p><p><span>As the popularity of these sweaters grew in the twentieth century this native craft was threatened by a flood of imitations; however today they are recognized as trademarked Genuine Cowichan. </span><strong><em>Cowichan Indian Sweaters</em></strong><span> celebrates the goal of preserving the spirit of these wonderful sweaters by documenting their history techniques and designs.
