Sangharsh / संघर्ष : (उपन्यास)

Language is a mutative entity and words come and go out of fashion like clothes. However a few words become the sign and symbol of a specific religion and starts losing its original meaning in the new social environment and then it becomes necessary to re-establish its original meaning.  It is not the job of social reformers to keep the language pure;  Most of the times it is the writers of that time and era who have to keep these meanings intact because the writers mold the story and bring it directly to the readers’ heart.  For example Jihad is one such word - The original meaning of this word is struggle against untruth for truth struggle against unfair for fair; however unfortunately it is a synonym of terrorism - which results in hatred violence and reprisal.  Now in such an environment we need a novelist like Yaqoob Yawar who will do the same work through literature.  He does the cold coating on the linguistic wounds that are leaking.  He does not just establish the original meaning of Jihad but also raises the novel from the ground of reality to an ideal. This story is of a layman in a remote tiny village who experiences hatred and vengeance after the demolition of Babri Mosque. This novel Sangharsh is a powerful narrative of this fact and a sweet novel at the same time.  The readers will surely once again be able to see the path of the brotherhood which we walk on.
