Sapano Ki Sarahade / सपनों की सरहदें

Written in Hindi Sapano Ki Sarahade is a romantic and socially relevant novel. Set in contemporary rural environment this novel tells the highly romantic and pathetic story of an adolescent along with touching a number of contemporary problems of rural India. It is in the similar line of Dharmveer Bharati’s famous Hindi novel Gunaho Ka Devata as the larger corpus of the novel is built on romantic feelings of adolescent age individuals. Based on real-life incidents it is a semi-autobiographical novel and methinks it will give a new dimension to the theme of love stories. Satish and Savita of this novel are very much modern version of Chandar and Sudha of Gunaho ka Devata. This novel enlivens before our eyes the real and natural world of the North Indian village life. Using a little bit of romance I have sincerely endeavored to show how our conservative social system frustrates the natural and heart felt desires and how this system can have maddening effect on individuals. I have tried to follow the dialogic method of Mikhail Bakhtin to tell this interesting story. This story does not have a traditional ending rather it has a postmodernist ending which is new and mind-blowing.
