<p>The short-story is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. Akhtar Orenvi has been a famous Urdu short story writer. There is a great harmony of romance and reality in his temperament and this aspect is the main link of his short story. He has always made the working class people his subject. Here a worker is a worker in any case whether he is from the city or the villages. He has depicted the subject on which he has taken up his pen in such a way that that scene comes before the eyes of the reader with its real existence. He has made the weather of the state of Bihar its atmosphere and the habits and customs of the poor people living there the subject of his short story. Wealth drought debt food housing etc. are such things around which human life seems to revolve and these are also the basic needs of man. Akhtar Orenvi has given space to these same topics in his short story. This book contains some of his selected stories.</p><p>/</p><p>اختر اورینوی اردو کے مشہور افسانہ نگار رہے ہیں۔ ان کے مزاج میں رومان اور حقیقت کا ایک بڑا اچھا تال میل ہے اور یہی پہلو ان کے افسانے کی اہم کڑی ہے۔ انہوں نے ہمیشہ مزدور طبقہ کے لوگوں کو اپنا موضوع بنایا۔ ان کے یہاں مزدور بہر صورت مزدور ہے، چاہے وہ شہر کا ہو یا پھر دیہات کا۔ انہوں نے جس موضوع پر قلم اٹھایا ہے ، اس کی اس طرح سے منظر کشی کی ہے کہ وہ منظر اپنے اصل وجود کے ساتھ قاری کی نظروں کے سامنے آ جاتا ہے۔ انہوں نے ریاست بہار کے موسم ، وہاں کی فضا اور وہاں رہنے والے غریب لوگوں کی عادات و اطوار کو اپنے افسانے کا موضوع بنایا ہے۔ مال گذاری، خشک سالی ، قرض، کھانا، رہائش وغیرہ ایسی چیزیں ہیں جن کے گرد انسانی زندگی گھومتی ہوئی نظر آتی ہے اور انسان کی بنیادی ضروریات بھی یہی ہیں۔ ان ہی موضوعات کو اختر اورینوی نے اپنے افسانے میں جگہ دی ہے۔</p>
