About The Book
Description
Author
In Savage Pellucidar the story follows the protagonist David Innes and his adventures in the prehistoric world of Pellucidar. David is an adventurer from the surface world who discovers an entrance to Pellucidar and becomes embroiled in the conflicts and politics of the primitive tribes that inhabit the inner world. The novel begins with David being captured by the Korsars a pirate-like tribe that terrorizes the coast of Pellucidar. David escapes and teams up with Abner Perry his friend and inventor and Dian the Beautiful his love interest. Together they navigate the treacherous and unpredictable landscapes of Pellucidar encountering new dangers and making new allies. As the narrative progresses David and his companions find themselves caught up in a power struggle between two factions the Mahars and the Sagoths. The Mahars are a dominant race of intelligent reptiles who seek to subjugate the other tribes and establish their rule over all of Pellucidar. The Sagoths are a subservient race of reptilian creatures who serve the Mahars and also resent their oppression. David and his companions must navigate this conflict as well as confront other threats such as giant prehistoric creatures and dangerous natural phenomena. They also seek to uncover the secrets of Pellucidars past and the true nature of its inhabitants. Savage Pellucidar combines elements of action adventure and speculative fiction. It explores themes of power tyranny and the struggle for freedom. The novel showcases Burroughs imaginative world-building featuring a richly realized prehistoric world filled with exotic flora and fauna as well as unique cultures and civilizations.
