प्ररूढाना हशिल्याना रुजं कुर्वन्तर्ता मानसे । वाक्शल्यानां तु रुग्रेया न च तेषां चकित्सितिम् ॥ In a verse of Subhāṣita the literary genre of moral aphorisms in Sanskrit it is said that it hurts if the body is hit but the hurt eventually fades with time; the scar however always remains. If the mind is hurt a scar does not form but the hurt always remains.
