The study was an experimental design. Students were randomly assigned to form a treatment and a control group. The comparison between the students’ scores showed that there was a significant difference in the final performance of two groups. Therefore the results from the ANCOVA reveal that prior English oral vocabulary knowledge predicted student’s success during the vocabulary scaffolding intervention and scaffolding has positive effects on learning vocabularies.
