Schiff-base and chalcone derivatives

Schiff-base are organic compounds with the general formula RR′C=NR″ where R and R′ represent hydrogen an alkyl or an aryl and R″ is an alkyl or aryl; in the latter case Schiff bases are also called anils. Chalcones are the compounds where aromatic substituent are introduced into the terminal position of the system -CH=CH-CO. Thus chalcones are phenyl styryl ketones containing reactive keto-ethylenic group -CO-CH=CH-. Chalcones are also known as benzalacetophenones or bezylidene acetophenones beta-phenyl-alphabenzoyl-ethylene. Schiff-base and Chalchones Derivatives has highly therapeutic activity.
