Searching for Peace in Somalia

About The Book

Somalia’s politics has two sharply contrasting features. As a homogenous nation fully inhabited by ethnic Somali except very few Bantu speaking groups in Sub-Saharan Africa Somalia has promoted the politics of irredentism right after independence though it failed. The Somali irredentist policy was to unite Somalis in northern Kenya Eastern Ethiopia (Ogaden) and Djibouti. In a quite sharp contrast to this Somalis subscribe to clan politics. Somalis allegiance to their clans for political guidance and leadership is exceptionally high in sub-Saharan Africa.
