About The Book

Water desalination (also known as desalting or desalinization) is a process for obtaining fresh (drinking) water from brackish or salty water (particularly seawater). The seawater desalination technique represents an alternative resource that provides solutions to short- and long-term water needs. Water desalination is gradually emerging as the leading solution for coping with growing water stress i.e. the imbalance between demand for water and the quantity available. The problem of drinking water is acute on our planet and particularly in our country which has led to the development of seawater desalination techniques that are economical more reliable and environmentally friendly. The Algerian government has made this a priority particularly for the western region of the country which has been suffering from a dramatic shortage of drinking water for several decades.
