Security policy challenges posed by youth unemployment

About The Book

This paper examines the research question: 'What security policy measures can be taken to reduce youth unemployment?' Young people and young adults are particularly affected by unemployment. If these groups cannot be integrated into the labour market there is a risk that they will engage in deviant behaviour due to a lack of prospects. Such behaviour can prevent social integration and cause considerable economic damage in the long term. This paper explores possible causes of youth unemployment and based on this proposes measures to reduce youth unemployment.
