Self-Assembled Soft Matter Nanostructures for Encapsulation

About The Book

The book gives an account of systematic investigation of various intramolecular and intermolecular interactions involved in the nanostructures formation by self-assembly approach. The major directions explored are: nanostructure formation by fullerene derivatives and layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly approach. The insight into the packing nature of fullerene derivatives in the self-assembled complex structures has been provided. The fabrication of biocompatible thin films via LbL self-assembly approach using biocompatible components has been discussed. The LbL assembled thin films and microcapsules are explored as potential drug delivery carriers. The interactions involved in the LbL assembly of protein nanoparticles and polymers were investigated. The study draws rational regarding role of inter-particle interactions in determining the growth of assembly and provides a scope for enhancing growth of other such LbL assemblies. A biocompatible approach for entrapment of water insoluble drugs in LbL assembly has been demonstrated and the approach described can be further utilized for fabrication of multi-agent delivery carriers.
