From 1974 to 2002 the Society of Biblical Literature published an experimental journal for biblical criticism a scholarly collection of papers and monographs on selected topics. This edition the 66th from 1994 focuses on ethics and politics in the Hebrew Bible. Included are monographs on the basics of ethics Moral Agency Community and the Character of God in the Hebrew Bible the problem of methodology sources and methods in the study of Ancient Israelite ethics the contribution of the Jacob narrative in Genesis to political ethics the Deuteronomistic history as political propaganda political rights and powers in monarchic Israel loyalty between the ruler in the ruled in Ancient Israel and social-ethical observations on the subject of power and violence with a focus on the end of the Omride Dynasty.
