Senile Dementia and Ayurveda

This book is author’s PhD thesis work carried out at IPGT&RA under Gujarat Ayurved University Jamnagar. Dementia is an organic mental disorder. According to DCM-IV when it affects elderly persons after sixty five years of age it is regarded as senile dementia. Impairment of memory is the main feature of dementia cognitive deficits impairment of coordination judgement intellect etc. are also found in this disease. This disease is increasing rapidly all over the world highly effective therapy having curative as well as preventive aspects is very required. In Ayurveda Senile Dementia is not mentioned as a separate disease entity. Many terms such as Smritibhramsha Smritinasa regarding senile dementia are discussed in vivid way. The etiological factors signs and symptoms management treatment as well as prevention of this disease are described meticulously.
