The book consists of 2 parts:I. An insight is made into the relevant provisions of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (Privileges and Functions) Rules (hereinafter ref. to as “the Rules”) excluding a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from right of audience in the inferior court (Area Courts inclusive) particularly by the combined interpretation of Rules 2 and 3 against the background of Rules 4 and 6 of the Rules which enjoyed a judicial blessing in the case of Registered Trustees ECWA Church v Ijesha.II. This work undertakes a critical analytical evaluation of Section 144 of the Nigerian Constitution particularly with respect to the events that occurred during the period of President Musa Yar’adua’s illness. President Umar Musa Yar’adua (16 Aug. 1951 – 5 May 2010) was the 13th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was the Governor of Katsina State in Northern Nigeria (29 May 1999 - 28 May 2007). He was declared the winner of the Nigerian Presidential election held on 21 April 2007 and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. While he held sway as Governor of Katsina he travelled outside the country on several occasions to battle with his protracted illness.
