Sense and Sensibility

Sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood have diametrically opposed temperaments: Marianne is passionate impulsive and emotional while Elinor is careful logical and responsible. When a dishonest suitor leaves Marianne she becomes depressed and puts her health at risk. While struggling with her personal betrayal Elinor remains stoic and withholds her feelings even from those who are closest to her. In a culture where position and wealth influence the results of love and marriage the sisters must deal with the anguish of grief. And in order to be happy people must come to terms with the fact that sensitivity and sense are connected.
