About The Book

Sense and Sensibility is a novel by Jane Austen that was published in 1811. It tells the story of Elinor and Marianne two sisters and their younger sister Margaret who are very different in personalities to each other. The novel follows their lives through the lives of two elder sisters their relationships with other people notably the men they meet. This book is often seen as one of Jane Austens most sophisticated works. Sense and Sensibility was first published anonymously in 1811. It was not until 1817 that it was revealed to be written by Jane Austen when her brother Henry Austen told the publisher John Murray that he had written it under the name A Lady.
