Michelle is a passionate and impulsive young woman and she quickly succumbs to Panine's charms.Panine eventually marries Michelle but he continues to pursue Yvonne. This leads to a series of betrayals and heartbreaks and the novel culminates in a tragic climax.Serge Panine was a huge success upon its publication and it has been translated into many languages.
