Seven Keys to Baldpate

The novel tells the story of a writer named William Magee who makes a bet with a friend that he can write a novel in 24 hours. Magee travels to an isolated mountain resort called Baldpate Inn to work on the book which he believes will be devoid of any outside interference. However Magee soon discovers that the inn is not as deserted as he thought it would be. He encounters a cast of eccentric characters who all have their own reasons for being at Baldpate and who all seem to be guarding their own secrets. As the night progresses the situation becomes more and more complicated with each of the characters vying for possession of a set of keys that they believe will lead to a hidden treasure.
