About The Book

Rhinosinus endoscopic surgery and microsurgery of the ear pose the problem of bleeding which makes it difficult for surgeons to perform their procedure. This led us to compare the action of sevoflurane and propofol in controlled hypotension by a therapeutic trial that included 110 patients undergoing this type of surgery at the ENT department of the CHU Tlemcen on the basis of different parameters studied. In the sevoflurane protocol the exsanguinity of the operating field was obtained in 87.5% (p=0.041) the time to obtain hypotension was 11.15±7.66 min (p=0.029) the satisfaction of the surgeon was obtained in 89.28% (''p=0.005) only 28% of the patients needed antihypertensive drugs (p=0.001) and the time to recovery was shorter (p=0.003)The results of our study allowed us to conclude that both products can be used in controlled hypotension but with a significantly greater improvement for the sevoflurane porotocole.
