About The Book

The aim of this publication is to establish sexuality as a communicable topic in oncological care and as an integral part of the treatment plan. The structure content and objectives of this psycho-oncological work clarify the context in which the psychosocial effects of cancer on sexuality come into play. The consequences of cancer and its treatment on sexuality affect people in their entire identity. The theory and practice of integrative therapy (H.G. Petzold) show ways in which we can understand the disruption of the identity of those affected by the effects of cancer on sexuality and what options can be offered to those affected for relief and healing. A particular concern is to awaken and strengthen the patient's resources and potential for solutions. In order to achieve a satisfactory life situation for the patient both the practitioner and the patient are faced with a challenge: namely to address the issue of sexuality and cancer.
