Sex and Violence in the Media

<p><em>Sex and Violence in the Media</em> is a unique anthology that examines the effects of sex and violence in a variety of mediated environments. The scholarly articles within this volume bring together the work of noted researchers in the field of mass communication who examine the sexual and violent content of television film music video games and advertising. <br /><br />This anthology begins with a reading that introduces the concept of media literacy followed by an examination of how sexual and violent content can impact audience members emotionally particularly children. Angelini</strong> is an associate professor of communication and the director of graduate studies at the University of Delaware. He earned his Ph.D. in the Department of Telecommunications at Indiana University. His research focuses on the cognitive processing of media messages with emphasis on sports and advertising. Dr. Angelini has published several research articles in journals including <em>Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media</em> <em>Sociology of Sport Journal</em> <em>Sport in Society</em> <em>Howard Journal of Communication</em> and <em>Journal of Language and Social Psychology</em>.</p>
