Shadow Flame

<p>Part Three begins with the formation of the Ashen Covenant an impossible alliance of shadow-wielders and former sun-soldiers. Led by Lyra Kaelen and Zane they march from their mountain sanctuary to wage a revolution of truth not conquest. Their first major victory comes at the quarry city of Stoneheart where Lyra liberates the enslaved miners not with force but by using her power to project a vision of the kingdom's true corrupted history shattering the garrison's will to fight.</p><p>The King responds by dispatching his most feared general Arion the Sun's Anvil to annihilate the city. What follows is the desperate Siege of Stoneheart where the rebels use their combined knowledge of shadow strategy and stone to turn the quarry into a deadly fortress. In a climactic duel Lyra confronts Arion. Utterly outmatched in strength she defeats him not with a sword but with a psychic assault of empathy forcing him to witness the human cost of his crusade and breaking his spirit completely.</p><p>The victory at Stoneheart becomes a legend igniting a full-scale rebellion across the kingdom. The Ashen Covenant's army swells as they march on the capital Ignisgard. To avoid a bloody siege that would kill thousands of innocents Lyra accepts a secret offer from the Queen to infiltrate the palace while Kaelen stages a massive diversionary attack on the city walls.</p><p>In the throne room they find that King Valerius is no longer human. He has fused with the Sunstone becoming a being of pure unstable energy in a ritual to burn all shadow from existence. Realizing she cannot fight this god-like entity Lyra discovers the final unexpected truth: her destiny is not to rule but to heal a fundamental imbalance in the world.</p><p>In a final act of sacrifice she offers her own perfectly balanced soul-the Shadow Flame-to the Sunstone. The raw cosmic power which was a caged entity absorbs her essence to complete itself restoring balance to the world's magic.
