<p>This book is a confession a witness statement and an act of necessary truth-telling about my six years inside the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).</p><p>I joined the force in 2004 a young man of eighteen fresh out of basic training at the Morris Training Depot in Harare. My youthful dreams of serving the law were extinguished almost before the ink dried on my contract. From the moment I first wore the uniform-a symbol of protection that had become an emblem of tyranny-I realized I had enlisted in a rogue police force not a public service.</p><p>This autobiography is based on the unvarnished truth of that experience. It is the story of how a nation's decay can corrupt even the most basic institutions meant to uphold order. The world needs to understand the institutionalized nature of the human rights abuses that were routine and the pervasive culture of fear that governed every recruit.</p>
