قصّة كأنّها قصيدة... يختلج بين سطورها مجتمع القرية بكلّ ما فيه من تناقضات وما يعصف به من تحوّلات، وترتفع قامة ريّا بطلة القصّة فوق الجميع لتؤكّد إرادة الإنسان وقدرته على التصدّي للصعاب والوقوف في وجه مجتمع الطغيان معلنًا رفضه للمساومة وصراعه حتّى النفس الأخير. باهظ ثمن الحريّة. وتدفع البطلة في شجرة الدفلى حياتها ثمنًا للحريّة المنشودة ولوقفتها المكابرة في وجه الطغاة.A story like a poem... It throbs between its lines depicting the village community with all its contradictions and the tumultuous transformations it undergoes. The stature of Raya the heroine of the story rises above everyone else affirming the human will and the heroine's ability to confront challenges and stand against a tyrannical society declaring her refusal to compromise and her struggle until the very last breath. Freedom comes at a steep price. The protagonist pays with her life on the gallows tree as a price for the longed-for freedom and her defiant stance against the oppressors.
