Shaped by Scripture

<p>As the only two books to bear women's names Ruth and Esther are unique in the Bible. They are also part of a minority of biblical books in which God does not directly speak or make overt appearances but works behind the scenes through faithful followers to communicate the will and love of God. Ruth and Esther tell very different stories but they share in common a few key themes that are important for Christians today including: the sovereignty of God; the ability of God to provide; the radical and inclusive love of God; and the way God's followers can love God by loving neighbor and by loving neighbor reveal God's love to the world.
