Despite coming from a small village in Nyamaharaga Kenya. Ruth has managed to economically empower 5000 girls and young women with Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills. Ruth’s passion can be traced from the time she could access a computer from a cyber cafe in her small village to her co-founding Pwani Teknowgalz an organisation in Mombasa that aims to bridge the gender gap of women in STEM by providing safe environment for women and girls. The ladies acquire STEM training mentorship and workshops empowering them to use their creativity to develop innovative solutions to community problems aligned with the Sustainable development goals. Follow her journey from joining Computer Studies class in high school later pursuing a degree in technology at the Technical University of Mombasa and running many STEM initiatives in Mombasa Kenya. She is a self taught website developer with a strong passion to mentor and train girls learn technology a field that women are under represented globally. Ruth has served as an external youth advisory board member for Mastercard Foundation for the Young Africa Works summit.
