<p>The short-story is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. In Tariq Chhatari's stories life seems to be going through a new experience on one hand there is a depiction of an elite family on the other hand the naked reality of rural life is also clearly visible. In some of his stories new and untouched terms have been coined in accordance with the environment and they do not seem unfamiliar in any way. The characters of his stories are in accordance with the structure and environment of the story and it seems that the storyteller is completely familiar with the character.</p><p>/</p><p>طارق چھتاری کے افسانوں میں زندگی ایک نئے تجربے سے گزرتی ہوئی معلوم ہوتی ہے، ایک طرف ایلٹ گھرانے کی تصویر کشی ہے تو دوسری طرف دیہی زندگی کی برہنہ حقیقت بھی صاف نظر آتی ہے۔ ان کے کچھ افسانوں میں ماحولیات کے موافق نئی اور اچھوتی اصطلاحات وضع کی گئی ہیں اور یہ کسی بھی طرح غیر مانوس نہیں لگتیں۔ ان کے افسانوں کے کردار کہانی کی بنت اور ماحولیات کے مطابق ہوتے ہیں اور ایسا لگتا ہے افسانہ نگار کردار سے پوری طرح واقف اور شناسا ہے۔</p>
