Shelterbelts and Pearl Millet Varieties in the Arid Areas

A study conducted during the 2008 and 2009 wet seasons with Gero local and Sosat improved pearl millet varieties under windward and leeward shelters cropped at 5 15 25 35 and 45m away in Azare and Gamawa shelterbelts of a 20-year-old pure stands of neem trees in Nigeria using a fixed-nested pattern and randomized in a complete block design with 4 replications. Results was to determined the effects of multiple belts on yield of pearl millets on-farm in arid regions with short rainy seasons. This is to stimulate continuous studies for socio-economic improvement of farmers and people in the regions.
